I do it 2 ways - either net them out of the bag (only really works when theres a lot of water in there) or dump the bag out in the sink over my large net - the fish get caught in the net, then get put in the tank.
about the plecos - you can net them gently and if the barb into the net, DONT try to force them out of it into the tank - just lay the net in the tank and once they calm down, they will release and swim off. Trying to force them to release their barbs is what will damage them.
That said, if you are putting several fish in at once, do the pleco last so you can leave the net in the tank till he relaxes
