See that? Like a mirror.

I'm going to update this every day and see just how much of the green plague actually grows.

It's not exactly a problem, I'm just amazed the stuff grows so fast!

Trying going on vacation and leaving your med tech tank unattended for a week if you want to see fast algae haha, I just leave the back wall green... otos and shrimp are all over it..

Care to fill us in on more details? I'm not familiar with your problem or setup.

Agreed. These sort of experiments are fun to observe but only when we know specific details about the set up.

What details? The basics?

It's a 60g Mbuna tank.

It's been running for around 2 months now.

It's currently being filtered by a Fluval 306. (Planning on getting an FX5 for the future)

It do weekly maintenance on it.

The substrate is a thin layer of gravel covered by another thin layer of play sand.

The decor is 65kg of Ocean Rock.

It's current stock is:

2 Yellow Tail Acei
3 Yellow Labidochromis
4 Red Top Ice Blue Zebra
3 Red Zebra

I feed Hikari Excel, Hikari Algae Wafers and Cucumber.

This sort of stuff?

Yup, but also stuff like your specific lighting, photoperiod, tank height, live plants?, sunlight?, etc. Essentially the things that contribute to algae growth.

Following. I leave my back walk green as well, the kissing gourami and pleco eat it.

Right..

Lighting: I'm using 2, 40W Fluorescent Bulbs. An Aqua-Glo and Power-Glo.

Photoperiod: It's not in direct sunlight but the room is at the front of the house and facing the sun.
The window is around 15ft from the tank.
I'd say it's exposed to natural light for 12 hours daily.

Tank Height: The tank itself is 48" by 16" by 19".
It sits on it's stand 28" from the floor.

Live Plants: It's an African Tank so I have 0 Live Plants for obvious reasons.

The 12 hours of sunlight is the reason for the algae growth if your ever interested in solving it.

Cool experiment though. Been following along

Yeah the sunlight probably is giving you the algae. My tank is about 5 feet from a window, but we have curtains across all of them to reduce our solar heat gain and not flash the neighbors :-o

Well it's a pretty open and bright house no matter where you go.

The only place I'd see it working is in the back room, nobody goes in there through.

I want my fishies where I'll see them ?
