Algae identification

Some people have this weird thing about bristle worms and are convinced they are the source of all evil. As far as I can tell, all they do is clean up and poke out when it's feeding time.
 
I believe they lump all worms together and some of them actually do eat corals, but not the one pictured. It will never eat a healthy coral. some folks think they can catch and eat a healthy fish, but that's total nonsense.

So this algae will not cause any harm just needs to be cleaned off? Is there any way to prevent it?
 
That is along time to have your lights on. Prob adding to the problem. When my timers died on me and i was working 16 hour shifts at work (with an hour drive to and back) I had some major issues with that crap on my tank. Took a day off and an old credit card to get it squared away again.
 
That looks to be diatoms. Very common for a new tank. It will leave as fast as it came as your tank matures.
