I've got a 75g with play sand as my substrate. I've been getting brown algae all around the glass which is easily cleaned off with my algae scraper but it's also turning the top layer of sand a darker brown color. I've got a common pl*co in there which may help a little bit but is there anything else I should do at this point?

I would just leave it on the sand, clean the glass if you want to see your fish . That sounds like a tank going through the natural progression.

When you do a water change just lightly run the syphon over the top of the sand and this will mix it up so that the brown sand gets mixed in with the clean sand.

you you could get ghost shrimp or amonos? im not sure that theyll eat the algae that you have but ive heard ghost shrimp can eat mat algae and amanos the others.

sry bout bad info but just a thought
