do a %30 water change with a siphon tube and get as close to the bottom as possible because that's where the ammonia builds up and treat new water with a solution before putting it In the tank... I use Prime. this can also be used to bring ammonia down as well in emergency situations... but I would just stick with the water change for now.

yes but my top water has ammonia in it and the bottled spring water has nitrate in it (before adding to my tank or adding any chemicals in it) just tested them before use

Thank you. is matter what kind of prime??? ( brand? )

I believe Prime is the brand name for one of Seachem's more popular water conditioner.
I would use the tap water despite the ammonia. Once the tank/filter is cycled, it should be able to deal with the ammonia from the live stock and new water.

Yes, prime is the brand name. Seachem Prime. It helps neutralize ammonia too, and I'd also go with the tap water. Most water conditioners take care of chlorine and chloramines immediately on contact. How long has the tank been set up and how big is it?
