Ammonia Levels FAR too high

Thanks Mark, that's exactly what I did! Seems like the only real thing for me to do is go on a water changing mission to try and sort it. Either that or try and find a new home for a few of the fish if the filter can't handle 7 fish....
 
or perhaps replace it with another filter foam to get even more bacteria on the job?

Is this something I could also do? Or even just put a bit more of something - cotton wool / floss or something - to work in tandem with the foam?
 
I have had the same carbon in my tanks for over a year, and my water is still crystal clear with readings of 0, 0, and 5 ppm. :) I have 3 different kinds of filters too.
