have a 75 gallon tropical fish tank. ammonia =0, nitrites =0, nitrates = 5ppm. Filtration is a Fluval 404 and a AquaClear 500. The tank has been set up for 1 1/2 years.
Right now I only have a few tropicals:
- 4 corys
- 4 algea eaters
- Around 10 guppies
- 2 long fin tetras
- 7 rasaboras
- 5 cherry barbs
- 2 platys
- 2 swordtails
- 3 barbs - not sure the name
- 5 neon tetras
Recently added- (on July 1st)
- 3 corys
- 4 platys
- 4 swordtails
- 5 rasaboras
Deaths
- 1 cory
- 2 platys
- 2 swordtails
- 1 barb
So I added the new fish and a couple days later I noticed on a swordtail that she had mouth fungus and was shimmying and then passed away a day later. I immediately added some Melafix and Primafix and cleaned the tank. Then as time went on I lost 1 cory, 2 platys, 2 swordtails & 1 barb. Yesterday I added salt (1 TSP per 10 gallons).
Symptoms
Guppies, Platys, Swordtails shimmy, flash, and I did notice on my cory that passed away today that it looked like he was burnt around his belly. No redness, No fungus just a white line. One of my algae eaters looks like he's bleeding. The barb (not sure the name) did not shimmy at all or display any strange behavior.
I’m confused because only 1 swordtail had the white mouth fungus and none of the others that died had the fungus. The algae eater looks like it’s bleeding so I think I may be dealing with fungus AND something else since my algae eater looks like it’s bleeding and the cory looked like he has a white stripe on him.
I don't want to loose any more fish & I’m desperate here. I’ve never had this kind of sickness and fish loss before. I’m thinking it’s bacterial and fungus but don’t want to go dump a bunch of medications in my tank.
