I was cruising the LFS yesterday and ran across a tank full of what were listed as Lyretail Balloon GBRs. Has anyone seen these? Are they just a natural mutation, or did they come from the Isle of Dr Morneau?

They had the typical GBR coloration, but their bodies were very round(almost coins w/ fins from a side view).

Not sure on the origin of these though I assume they are the same species. I have seen these before at the lfs and on aquabid as well. The ones that I have seen were called "balloon rams" as I think is their "proper" common name. When I was doing some research on GBR's one of the common names that I found was "balloon ram" which I am assuming only refers to the "bloated" looking ones.

I have one balloon ram and he hangs with my GBR always .

How long have you had your Balloon, Kansei? From what I have been told on here they are a variant GBR. I have been getting different reviews but I must say, I think they are pretty cute! :)
