Betta fish turning white with red marks please help

I’ve had this betta since November of 2018, he was living in a 3.5 gallon tank with a filter and heater and I decided to upgraded him to a 5.5 gallon tank. After putting him in his new I home I noticed he has a white mark on the side of his face, I waited for one day to see if he’d heal himself but, slowly as days went by the white started growing. It was now in different spots on his fins and on the other side of his head. I put in some aquarium salt but, It didn’t make a difference. Also tried Bettafix (yes, I know some people don’t like Bettafix don’t come at me for it) but, it didn’t have any change. I asked someone on Quora what it was and they said it was ich but, I don’t think they were right. They advised me to put Indian Almond leaves in the tank so I bought some and they just came in today, I washed them and put half of one in my Bettas filter and noticed an hour later he was in the corner of his tank sort of lying on the ground, I got paranoid and took the leaves out. He’s only gotten worse and worse, he’s still eating and acting normally it’s just his skin that I’m worried about. Please help I don’t want him to die.

Are you noticing any peeling of the fish's skin, scales or fins?

(I have a terrible time with seeing [most any] pics very well) His body seems okay from the picture

If it is the changing of the color, it might be part of his probably having a Marble gene.

Are you familiar with the nitrification cycle?

What are your water parameters?

Have you thrown out any of your filter media or rinsed it in plain untreated tap water?

What is your temp?

What is your water change schedule?

I would do a 2-3 pwc's in the next 2 days of 25-35% and watch and see if his behavior perks up after the water changes. Sometimes the water quality has them stressed.

I don’t notice any peeling just the white patches growing over his body. He’s a Crowntail Betta, he was royal blue with a black face when I bought him and his fins had traces of red in them.

I watched a video on the nitrogen cycle yesterday, I’m not sure if that’s the same thing you mean.

I ordered an API water testing kit online and am waiting for it to get delivered so I can’t tell you the water parameters right now.

I haven’t thrown out any filter media just added Indian Almond Leaf to the filter yesterday and I do see a difference in his behavior today, a good difference.

My water temp stays in between 76-80 degrees and I do 35%-50% water changes every week but, I did a full water change two days ago and started daily pwc with added IAL tannins yesterday.

I will see how this goes for now, he’s already a bit more active after adding the IAL.

Maybe too with the water changes helped him to start feeling better.

The question is whether or not the white is bad skin or just a changing of color.

No change

The white has spread through this body. I’ve bought API stress coat and started using that on his tank. I still add IAL to his tank but, no difference. He’s still acting normally and eating well. I’m not sure what to do at this point.

It seems he might just be changing colors. Not to say there isn't something i can't see in the pics. But you saw my orange then only weeks later, turned blue Betta, right? It can happen pretty fast.

If his body looks healthy with good eatig and activity then he's probably fine.

The marble gene can have these fish changing their whole life, some pretty much stay the same after they grow up.
