Black banded leporinus

I have recently purchased my tank and I currently have two red-tail sharks, a green barb and a black banded leporinus. I have heard a lot of things about the BBL such as that they become a big pain as they grow older and they also get pretty large. If anyone has owned a black banded leporinus could you please tell me how your experience was and how large yours got?

I had one that got up to 11". Quite aggressive too.

Did it take long to grow that big? I'm worried cause right now I only have 20 gallon tank, but it's no more then two inches in size right now.
