i have one jack dempsey that is about 5 yars old and very healthy. i was wondering if i could buy another young one from a pets store and wait for it to mature. will they breed even though the age difference would be about 5 years apart? and how can i tell if my dempsey is male or female??

the one on your profile is a male, the females have more of a blueish color on there chin.

the one in front is my female. see the blue chin. if you want to breed them, you cant get a female too small they get violent when they breed and can hurt each other if there is a big enough of a size difference. but other then that they will most likely breed if they get along. watch lip locking videos so you dont confuse that with them fighting, lip locking is like their mating dance and is where they can hurt each other with size difference. :D
