I changed my ph from 7.4 to 6.5...could a drop like that in ph lead to a bacterial bloom?

It is not good to change your PH.. a stable PH is all thats improtant..
How fast did the PH change? I think that the bacteria dies off somwhere around at a PH 5..

I have 6.8 out of the tap and only when I am stupid and add bacteria do I get a bloom... no bloom when I added driftwood either

Nitrobacters are relatively fragile. A sudden pH swing is likely to cause a die off and bacterial bloom.
