Is this all you would need to put MH (besides bulbs and some wires of course) on a tank?!?! Is that insanely cheap? I am looking at changing my lighting, but I thought that MH ballasts were in the $100+ range.

That's only the socket for the double-ended bulbs.

Good luck finding a ballast of any wattage under $100 unless used

My 175w bulb, reflector and ballast was $75. Bulb and ballast almost brand new. Find a local aquarium website and check the classifieds. Maybe even your local newpaper classifieds...

That quoted price is only for the socket.. The ballast is not included (read the text of the item you add to the cart).

The socket is by far the cheapest piece to buy

i prefer the mogul sockets ( around 7 bucks each ) i got my socket, ballast, and reflector for 169. the bulb was another 69ish.
