I was thinking about getting several tanks of different size and using individual stand to support them but connecting them with rectangular prism tubes of varying sizes
Could this work if sealed properly?
I think it would be perfect for fish to escape one another especially livebearer fry

Yes it can work and people have done it..you can make a wide U shaped tube (could be boxed just needs to be water tight) and place one end in each tank then suck out the air creating a vacuum..then you'll have an above tank pathway between 2 tanks
