Carbon filter

Just read on another thread that the carbon filter in a fluvian 3+ need to be changed often, can someone define "often"

Just started the hobby myself so ymmv but from what I have picked up and read carbon should be replaced about every 3 to 4 weeks.
 
You could just leave the carbon alone and not replace it or just remove it totally. When I get a new filter, I usually leave the carbon out. I only run it when I'm trying to remove tannins or medication from the water.
 
I would have to second that. The only reason I have carbon in now is because there was a free packet with the new filter.
