I have a Malawi tank and deciding on which catfish to order. I'm not even sure if they would be good together because I have cichlids that may kill the catfish. Personally I don't believe there is any need for any type of bottom feeder in a Malawi tank. If you do not over feed where as flakes are falling into your gravel before this fish can consume there is no need African's are very aggressive eaters. I only feed mine floating pellets.
Bottom feeders are counter productive as I see it the excrete as much or more than they consume.

I always used synodontis multipunctatus or petricola.
