Center brace? Do I need it?

Here's a pic and the dark spot in the center drives me CRAZY!! Do I need it? I'm topless just the wooden canopy.

It's there for a reason, obviously not for aesthetics so it's probably structural...

Haha it is annoying. Usually, it's there for support, and if you take it out, the glass could bow and stuff. It's a bad idea to remove it
