Cichlid compatibility

I have just one blood red parrot right now, and plan on buying a larger tank to accommodate for its growing size. I plan on buying a 55 gallon, but want a little variety in the tank. Are there any suggestions for some cichlids that are bright and colorful, but will get along with my blood parrot??

How big is the parrot now? Is he aggressive? Firemouth, or convict could work

if you have a female blood parrot, and you get either a male firemouth or male convict, then they could breed with the blood parrot.
