Anyone ever have aggressive cichlids with peaceful fish? I was just wondering because the lfs gave me a free electric yellow lab a few days ago and it hasn't touched my neon tetras.

I'm going to try a cherry red cichlid and an ice blue zebra cichlid next.

Or you could not kill the neons....as this "experiment" will end with...

It all depends on the individual fish IMO. I've done angels that were on both sides of the scale. I've also had "peaceful" cichlids that were absolute terrors.

Most of the time, mbuna with neon tetras is a bad idea. Long term I don't see that working at all

I agree I wouldn't do it, why don't you just start a mbuna tank? they do best with there own kind .

How big is the yellow lab in comparison to the neons?

In my experience even the most peaceful of fish will eat another fish if it fits in its mouth

This experiment will most likely end with disappearing neon tetras

The yellow lab will eventually grow and then the neons will be killed off
