Can't go past SAE's, otto's, corys, snails and shrimp

Remember tho they may be called "clean up crews" but they won't fix algae issues. [emoji106]

Never put live stock in your tank with the goal of having them "clean" or fix your algae problem. With that said, the fish and inverts listed above will help to consume some algae and detritus, but they are all very cool inhabitants. Ottos are my personal favorite especially when they demonstrate schooling behavior in larger groups of 6+.

Can you put Ottos with Lava Rock? I don't have any driftwood in my tank yet.

I plan on putting Neon Tetras, Corys and maybe gouramis. Would Khuli Loaches work with Lava Rock?

Lava rocks or is the soil lava rock? Sand they do fine with.

There is a sand front with substrate in the back. There are 6 medium sized lava rocks in a line across the aquarium

That, I don't see an issue for. Please read this and check the parameters of your tank against it.

Perhaps you should see the tank first, just in case

The main concerns are ph, temp and hardness. Oh and never use copper.
