I'm finally into weekly and monthly cleanings and pwcs. I've noticed that my decorations are getting kind of yucky looking with both green and brown alge. I just did my first rinse out of my bio-bag today and don't want to upset the good bacteria so I've left the decorations for the time being. When should these things get cleaned and how often? Thanks!
Karen.

Re: Cleaning Decorations

I am not sure what kinds of decorations you need to clean, but castles and such can be cleaned by soaking them in water with chlorine bleach. Be sure and rinse thoroughly, then put them in water to which a water conditioner that neutralizes chlorine has been added.

You may clean the decorations now and as often as you need to.

Another option is getting a clean, new brush and scrubbing them in the tank water you've removed for your PWC is another option. I've done that with rocks, admittedly by hand (no brush).
