Cleaning Sand

I currently have gravel as the substrate in my aquarium- was thinking of switching to sand. How do you clean sand? Can I still use my gravel vacuum?

I'm no pro but I do have sand. I looked it up on YouTube and tried it. It worked for me. I just suck the waste from the top of the sand. No waste sinks past the top layer of the sand for me. I hope it helps.

All of the nasty stuff sits on top of sand, all you have to do is hover the vac above the surface and it will get sucked up.
