came across a used fiter toda, wondering anything i can find out about it,
it's a regent aquatech 200, thinking it would be good on a 30g. hex.
Also wondering about the thoughts on sterilizing of unknown equip.
tks

You can use bleach like Menagerie said and make sure you rinse a lot...it's what we use at work and we rinse everything that gets bleached for the fish tanks about 5 to 8 times. But in the last rinse we use Bio Safe, my manager says that it "neutralises" the bleach. I don't know how much truth there is to that statement but we've never had any problems.

Water conditioners are primarily dechlorinators, which makes them the enemy of chlorine bleah :)

William, have you had problems with plasitcs decoloring or cracking in the sun?

I only leave them out for a few hours in the heat of the day, for one day.

Enough to bake any badthings.

And no, I've done it with a 2gal plastic bowl I use for QT on my betta's, and my python numerous times [ Not just th e clear hose, but the green plastic bits to ], and I left a Penguin Mini-no Biowheel outside to bake and and had no problems with any of them.
