What type of tank is it? When was it set up? What's in it? How long are you running your lights?

What chemicals did you add?

It's a 10 gallon, I set it up the 29, right now there is stresszyme a water conditioner as well as some aquarium salt! No fish are in it right now.

I turn on my lights during the day off at night so probably 15 or 16 hours max

Lights are on way too long and if your cycling you don't need your lights on.

Could be a bacterial bloom but either way is do no light or seriously cut back to maybe 8-9 hours of light. My lights go on at 3:30pm and off at 10:00pm. I'm not home during the day.

Hello Kat...

Cloudy water is natural for a new tank. The substrate is usually the reason. It's never rinsed enough or placed carefully enough.

You can add a poly fiber pad or pads to the filtration system. The dense material will attract and hold floating particles and help clear the water.

Thank you both! I will try both of what you said! I am up to try anything!!

This is what I would do, make sure you have enough surface agitation, test your parameters and test tap water also. Cut back on your lights big time, leave the tank be for now and see if it settles.

Could be the chemicals you've added that clouded the water up. I just set up a tank last night and the water is crystal clear today.

Don't mess with your filter. Let the beneficial bacteria grow. Also what are you using for an ammonia source?

I agree with convict. More than likely its from the stress zyme. I used that too when setting up our 30 bc I didn't know better. I just did a 100% water change to get rid of it as the bacteria in a bottle did nothing for me. To get my ammonia source I did a fish in cycle.

I have no idea what I have put I have a friend that showed me what to buy she is an aquatic specialist so I will have to ask because I'm sure that I have put something :)

Thank you jennkp! I might have to change my water if it doesn't fix :)!
