Compressiceps

Is there a difference between the Altolamprologus compressiceps and Altolamprologus calvus? I have done a little research and they call the calvus the black calvus but they both look about the same to me, its just they are different colors. I think they both get about the same size.

They are very similar, but they are different species.

I have a Altolamprologus compressiceps but I want to know if you could put it together in the same aquarium with a black calvus or would they not get along well?

Its been done, but two males will likely clash over territories, whereas a male and female may interbreed, giving you undesireable hybrids.
