I'm looking into getting some congo tetras. The only thing is my ph is at 8. Everything Ive read says ph from 6 to 7.5 Do you think they would be able to adapt to a ph of 8 or hould I try almond leaves or something. My only concern with the almond leaves is that every time I do a water change the ph will swing. Any thoughts or sudgesstions will be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

They'll be fine at pH 8. Unlike the South American tetras, Congos are native to areas in Africa where the water is slightly basic and moderately hard.

EDIT: I double-checked this and their native pH levels are a little lower than I thought. But they will still do fine in moderately hard water, and that matters a lot more than the pH.

Well my water is moderate to hard. I have cardinals doing just fine in it but cardinal tetras are $2 congo tetras are $8 so I figured I would seek some advice.
