Now, a year later, I have two thriving aquariums, one a saltwater and one a ten gallon freshwater with a huge angel that I've had for about 10 months. Go figure 8O

For my ten gallon I think everything was about 90.00

corner filter 7.00 (running extra now due to overstocking)

pump 9.00

ok so closer to 100.00

Fish = 1 african cichlid (this guy is moving into the 55 gallon soon)
20 feeder fish (i only asked for 10, i got closer to 30)
3 guppies left (feeders)
misc snails
3 danios

I spent 90.00 today on supplies, now I have everything but the hoods, so probably 150.00 total, not too shabby!

I'm a grad. student, so by definition i live by frugality. I shopped at least 6 different sources, and this was the best I could do. I plan on spending another $30 on livestock once the cycle is complete. The "planted" aspect of my tank added nearly $100 to my set-up, but was well worth it :)

$5 bag of quartz rocks from home depot (decided not to use)
$22 for 3 50lb bags of PFS (took so long to find I bought a ton so I'll never have to shop again)
$2 clay pots from home depot (2)

Everything except the tank, and rocks were from Big Al's (which I'd highly recommend over a LFS due to pricing) so all told.....~$180...

Now after cycling I'll have to find some fish :)
