Crawfish

I'm assuming that it would be a must to put something like lettuce in my tank to stop a craw fish from eating my plants. Would this be a correct assumption.
 
Not necessarily. Mines in a cichlid tank, so only anubias and other plants they don't eat, so I don't have that problem with my royal blue. You can try it, as it may work for some, not for others. Just keep it fed. If you can, keep plants away from his favourite cave/hideout, or get different plants.
 
What kind of cray? Larger crays will pretty much uproot the plants no matter what. They will definitely appreciate veggies for a snack, but it's still likely your tank will atleast get re-arranged. ;)
 
Here he is he's just two in. But loves to uproot my long grass plants. So far he seems to like the lettuce. As far as his favorite hangout he moves around the tank. The tank btw is 125gal.
