I've been given a piece of Live Rock. It had been out of water for a week or so. It's been put in a 2 gallon bucket with saltwater from my tank and a powerhead. How long before it becomes cured and safe to put in a reef tank? Thanks.

Just wait until the live rock is mostly purple then it will be good to put in. Make sure it has about 12hours of light other wise it will not turn purple.

I sure am happy I haven't put this rock in my tank. It would've wiped out my SPS corals in no time. The rock is going through cycling. I'm guessing another 10-14 days because I put some old filter media with beneficial bacteria in the bucket.
