Cycling a 10g with HOB filters

If I take my HOB 30 filter from my cycled 20g tank, and put it on a new 10g tank, will I have to cycle it? Sorry for this question, I'm just wondering if it will work? The filter has a bag of Chemi-Pure ELITE in it and some filter floss.

Forgot to mention I change out the Chemi-Pure for carbon every once in a while.

Will it make my old tank start a new cycle?

Yes, you will still have to cycle it, but it won't take as long. Just be sure to test the water parameters.

If I put a new filter on the tank I took one from, will it start a new cycle??

Yes, the tank with the new filter will need to be cycled although it may not take as long.
