Cycling a tank

I agree with lots of water changes. The simplest way to look at it is in stages

1) you do water change to keep ammonia down
2) then ammonia will go to 0 nitrites will rise
3)then you do water changes to keep nitrites down
4) then nitrites will go to 0
5) when nitrites goto zero nitrate will start to rise tank is cycle. Water change will be less frequent but still need once to twice a week depending on stock.
6) when nitrates hit 20 to 40 ppm water change to control them.

This is very general but the simplest way to look at the process. With your stock lvl where it is. You will most Likely be looking at daily water change through the cycle process and then twice a week after that. It could be less but doubt it. I also wouldn't use any chemical but prime. "Fish in" cycles can be daunting. Hang in there it will happen!
