FWIW, I've always subscribed to keeping the side glass such that I can clean them. With the rocks there, it'll get ugly before long. I just kept enuf space for me to fit a scraper in to get down to the sand.
I had a rock packed full of ugly brown palys. I pulled the rock out, took it to the kitchen sink, put on safety glasses (you do not want their "juice" squirting you in the eyes), grabbed a wire brush, turned the sink faucet on and scrubbed them off the rock.
Lost all fish to ich, No signs of it. Added the Wrasse(Having the ich, The guy at the store said some of the fish had ich breakout but they copper treating them all so it should be fine)
Then boom, 2 days later. All gone.
Very sad.
So now, Im going to concerntrate on corals and get it stocked with that and wait 6-8weeks for the ich to die off them start again with the fish really.
I would also chew out the LFS and ask to get all your replacement fish at cost because they lied to you... or just get my money back and get the fish elsewhere
I'm glad your taking it so well though. I hope you consider getting a QT tank because I would hate to see this happen again.
