how do i know when an SPS dies? i have a birdsnest ( seritoporia? ) that i have not seen polyps on for about a week and the holes where the polyps normally extend from seem a little bigger and more hollow. this coral never did that great after the swap to new tank.

The color is main way to tell if a sps coral is still alive. The color they have id basically a flesh that covers the skeleton. If the entire coral is bleach white in color and has algae or cyano growing on it then its gone. Other wise if its color is good then it is alive. Typically this can happen where the polyps wont extend while the coral acclimates.

it still has a pink tone for sure. there was a little algae on one tip but i removed the algae. i will give it some time.

thanks for the info
