You know diatoms are out of control when they started growing on your heater. How do I permanently get rid of diatoms?! I have an otocinclus and plan on getting 2 or 3 more, but I don't see how those tiny fish can eat up all the diatoms in my tank. I know that Seachem PhosGuard helps remove silicates and phosphates from the water, but I can't afford to keep buying it every month or every other month. I've had diatoms ever since I started the hobby 2 years ago come March. How do I combat this diatom problem once and for all?
