Diatoms out of control?

Hello everyone,

I am having a BIG issue with what seems is a diatoms outbreak.I have lowered my light timing to 7hours.but now its not only brown sand it seems that there are brown boubles in the sand and long algae like stuff coming out oh the sand.How can I take control of this.I just did a PWC 4 days ago and it grew back right away.Help please!!

how olds the tank? are you sure its diatoms... got any pictures? for the hair algae... im asuming. i use emerald crabs. literally cleaned my tank up in 2 days... and when i say cleaned up i mean SPOTLESS. dont certian snails feed on diatoms?

sorry,tank is about 1 1/2 months old.

Are you using tap water?

No I am using r/o water and salt water from my lfs.
