this stuff really makes the tank look bad im gonna scrub the glass tomorrow what should i do bout the sand? should I change my filter media? what fuels this stuff?

No don't Change your filter media. Just turn over the sand bed during your pwc and you will be fine. You could get some snails. I have one turbo snail in my 60 and he wiped out all the algae on the rocks in 2 days. Don't worry they will go away within 2 weeks or so
