So I recently made some DIY root tabs and stuck them in my tank. They were made with some dynamite vegetable and flower fertilizer and some capsules. The store I was at for the capsules was a little crunchy and didn't have gelatin capsules so I got some made with cellulose instead. Not concerned about the fish, but my water became a little cloudy and the surface covered with bubbles the next day.

Anyone else have experience with this? Would the same thing happen with gelatin? Is there a way to avoid this next time root tabs go in besides not using the current capsules?

You can get an ice cube tray. Fill each compartment 1/2 with ferts. Fill with clean tank water. Freeze.
Insert Fertcicles into substrate.

My DIY Root tabs use kosher gel caps I believe.
