do plecos eat brown algae?

My bristle nose pleco will eat brown and green algae.

They also eat flakes, zuchinni, blood worms, algae wafers, peas and whatever else they can find.

Mine is most fond of diatoms (brown). We had an outbreak in my goldfish tank, and it was gone in a couple of days (and he's still pretty small.. only a couple of inches!). I've had to feed him algae wafers since, he kept a 29 gallon algae free for several weeks, and since transferring him to a 55, he's been keeping that clean too.

He's not very picky, as far as I can tell.

thanks im gunna see if he'll eat some peas since he pretty much cleared out my 50gal

In case you weren't sure, you should blanche the peas and then peel the skin off before feeding it to them.

I highly recommend you get some sinking algae wafers or discs too.
