Do Salt Water Fish Get Ich?

There some white thing on the tail of my Sargent major wondering what it is

It very well could be ich. Do you have a picture?

cant get a picture sucky digital camera came with computer 3 years ago was gonna buy a Nikon d1 or Fuji S2 but bought aquarium instead

should i go ahead and treat for ich? will it hurt ?

If it looks like white grains of salt, then it is indeed ich and u sould QT and use meds or a hyposalinity treatment.

is'nt it also calle marine velvet

also is'nt ich caused by stress to the animal or is something else?

I wouldn't worry yet, and don't treat any copper. Sargent majors are pretty bullet proof, just wait.
