I went and bought a betta and the lady at the store gave me a square foot of this for free. I asked for the name but forgot what it is, it's not baby dwarf tears but something else.

I was going to guess salvinia or duckweed, but I can't say for sure. I'm far from an expert. I only responded because you sounded so desperate for an answer!

Duckweed grows on top of the water, so that one is out.

Thanks guys, I went back and asked. It's called HC cuba (hemianthus callitrichoides).

I'm such an idiot. DBT and HC cuba are the same thing.
