If I used live sand and live rock on a 29 gal tank shouldnt it just be about ready to be cycled, also I have heard the shrimp cycle method does it work????
Depends on a few factors, such as if the rock was cured completely and how long it was out of water on its way to your tank. You can easily test to check by dosing the tank to about 2ppm of ammonia....if its gone within 24 hours you are cycled. If not then you need to cycle.
For example from the LFS to my house I'll say 15-20 min at the most which I could easily transfer it in a bucket with salt water from their tank if I needed it or how long can it b out before it dies
Every minute its out of water can cause die off which will cause an ammonia spike. Also, how long has the lfs had the rock? Its shipped to them uncured usually, just like we would order it online and it can take sveral weeks for it to cure up and become stable.
