Female or male Variatus Platy??

Hi guys could you ID what sex my fish is? Is there a type of way to know? I've attached a picture

Not a very good pic, but based on the pic alone, I would say female. On platys, as in most live-bearers, the anal fin thickens into a rod or needle-looking structure called a gonopodium. The female's anal fin is more spread out and fan-like.
