Hi I have a pregnant swordtail. I know. Big Deal. But I like this fish and would like to save the babies. I want to put her in a different tank. One that the residents won't eat them. I understand that the back of her has to be black and large. From the pictures can anyone tell if she is ready to drop? Thanks

I can't tell for sure but she looks close. I'd be careful about moving her livebearers have a natural defense to drop fry prematurely when threatened or stressed. If she's about to drop it doesn't matter as much as they're mostly developed and should survive. Also love the tail of that one very nice

Keep calm and rock on

Thanks.

Thanks for the responses. I found these swords at a swap meet. I do have some floating plants in the tank but not many. Duckweed and another. Maybe I'll get a mope for babies. After she drops I'll put them in the other tank.
