I am going to say a variation on the corynactis species. I have some in my tank but they are pink instead of blue. They are sometimes called ball anemones.

i know i didnt put it in there, is it a pest? can i just yank it out or are they problematic?

also thanks for the id!

Mine were a surprise hitchhiker as well. As far as whether they are a pest or not depends on your point of view. From what I have read they can be a little aggressive to other corals and even fish. The good news is that they are stationary so as long as they aren't within striking distance of any other corals then they are okay. They also stay pretty small. I imagine that if they are fed then it wouldn't hurt either. I don't do anything special with the few that I have and I haven't had any problems. I don't have corals in my tank yet though and I haven't lost any fish. I do plan on getting corals soon and I will just make sure that they aren't too close to it. I like it and plan on keeping it.
