I have a 110 gal with a 30 gal under for sump and it is freshwater im sticking everything in the sump to keep the display tank nice. My problem is the HOB filters i have make the water fall sound in the sump casue i can only fill my sump 80% up in case of power outage my display drains back in and doesnt overflow my floor. So what are some solutions for filtration? I do have a magnum 350 that i was gonna try and stick in there as well but i think im gonna have to rig the tubing to get the return more to the bottom of the tank instead of the top. And i feel that is not enough filtration anyway.

Make a little baffle to break up the falling water from the HOB's returns.

You could use bio balls for the baffle so they would serve as a sort of wet/dry filter as well.
