Fry getting sucked up in filter

I am going to have platy and guppy fry soon and i dont want to buy a new filter because i have a great one. Sponge filters are a no for me. Is there anything i can buy so that little fry wont be sucked up in a filter

I buy a sponge to fit right over my filter intake. I bought this for my 6 gallon shrimp tank:

Before I bought this product, I put 40 shrimps in a tank and lost over a dozen shrimps from my filter. I haven't lost any shrimp ever since I got this sponge.

That's what I do with mine as well, except I just make them myself.

Did you find that at the pet store or did you have to cut it customly
