Getting rocks from the ocean for fish tanks?

No problem! I think the only reason you don't want to use saltwater rocks in some freshwater tanks is because it will buffer it. At least thats the only reason that I know of. If you kept fish that require a high ph I would think it would be ok. Maybe fort knows something I dont.?. ? Hint hint

That is the reason I was thinking of. You don't want to raise the pH too much.

Other than saltwater I think the african lake fish would be the only freshwater fish that could take the high ph. So if that's what your planning it will be ok.
