Getting Started With a 55 Gallon?

So, I Decided today that I'm just going to do a FOWLR instead of a reef. What equipment do I need? My stocking is going to be this:
1 royal gramma
2 purple firefish
1 orange lined cardinalfish
1 yellow lined wrasse
6 sexy shrimp
1 skunk cleaner shrimp
3 peppermint shrimp
2 clowns

I already have the tank, a heater, 2 HOB filters, and the lights that came with the tank.

You need a powerhead just for a small amount of flow in the tank. Nothing to major since it is going to be FOWLR.

What powerhead would you suggest?

I like koralia powerheads. a 550 or 750 should be enough for a fowlr system.

I started my 55 gal FOWLR back in January with an Octo surface skimmer, Fluval 306 canister, 2 Koralia 750 power heads, LED lights and Heater.

With a FOWLR, is a skimmer even necessary?

On a fowlr it's said a skimmer isn't needed but it's never a bad idea. It helps keep the water clean so it's not a bad idea. Besides most fowlr tanks are reef tanks in the making.

Okay. I'll aim to get a skimmer as soon as I can then. It's hard for a teenager to afford all this stuff !
