Gourami feeler is broken

my gourami feeler is broken about halfway, is this a bad thing that needs special care?

Ive had this happen with angelfish and it grew back in around a month. I would imagine a gourami is similar. Regular water changes to ensure water is pristine will help.

Any idea how it happened? Is it likely to happen again.
