Yes.
If in doubt, check for carbonates (which will increase PH) by dropping on muriatic acid; if it foams, don't use it. (Vinegar works but not as sure fire. Note muriatic acid is dangerous!).
Don't use granite that has lots of glittery stuff in it that might be metallic, at least without getting someone knowledgeable to identify it. Glittery-glass is fine, e.g. quartzite.
